”For 11 years I have been in the classroom teaching. I have experience in parochial, charter, Montessori, and public education settings. After becoming disenfranchised with the system, I walked away with a heavy heart. I love being in the classroom but what I love more is students learning. My drive to improve the quality of the education system is strong. I am dedicated to students learning and improving the system that is currently in place.”

Come see the progress of our Fresh Waves mural going up by Britt Flood on the EAST side of our building (right next to Dr. Beatty’s dentist office on 3rd Ave.) We’ll have slushies for $2/off, drafts $1/off, and all bottles 15% off! Live music with Charles Madison’s Dr. West! And KC Sizzle & Smoke food truck will be ready at 5pm!
”Artist Britt Flood previously painted as part of the 2020 Fresh Waves project at Thunder Bay Theatre; unfortunately, the mural was destroyed in the warehouse fire in December 2023. We are thrilled to have her back in late August to paint a new piece on the side of PIF Cider. The artist’s work provides “moments of discovery, connection, and positivity to our communities through public art and placemaking.” Her piece will embody “the spirit of the lake,” mixing muted and vibrant colors that are inspired by the textures, colors, and sunsets of Alpena that the artist experienced while here in 2020.”

The Bodice Rippers Association - or BRA - is an inclusive romance book club that meets monthly at PIF Cider! Every month we will choose a romance trope as the focus of our next discussion. Readers can read any book that fits the trope - closed door or open! - then attend the meet-up to share their recent read(s) and hear about what other members have been loving! Readers are asked to bring a favorite or recently read romance book to share. We'll get to know each other and learn more about the book club, romance as a genre, romancelandia lingo, and tropes! Please reach out to book club hosts, Sara and Paige, at bodicerippersassociation@gmail.com with questions.
We won’t be able to make every Saturday, but we’ll have it in our calendar when we plan on attending. You’ll see (based on availability) tomatoes, cucumbers, beets, basil, lettuce mix, microgreens, kale, carrots, and more!
Come check out these cool jazz cats & have some cider with a tasty pastry or Blue Moon Cafe sandwich/bowl.

Ethan O'Brien was born and raised in Alpena where he fell in love with his parents' record collection and learned how to play rock and roll. In elementary school, he started the local band Bobbing for Piranhas with bassist Conor Larkin and drummer James Daoust. While rock and roll is his favorite thing in the whole wide world, Ethan also enjoys sitting on a stool, strumming an acoustic guitar, and singing pretty (he hopes) songs.
